My approach to therapy is client-centered, collaborative, and compassion-focused. We work as a team to build a treatment plan and approach that helps you heal. Though I have the insight gained from a Masters degree and extensive professional experience, I believe you are your own expert. My role is to facilitate and guide your personal growth. I use current evidence-based best practices including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and elements of motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and emotion-focused treatment.
As a member of the Association for Size Diversity and Health, I am passionate about Health at Every Size®️ (HAES) as part of the healing process for body shame and disordered eating. Health cannot be determined by body size or BMI, and people in all bodies deserve respect and care. We work to unpack the messages received about food, exercise, and body image through this weight-neutral lens. I will never suggest weight loss as a part of your treatment and believe the desire to change our bodies is rooted in emotional pain. You deserve to address the root of the problem. You deserve to be at peace with your body.
